5 Books to Read Before They Become Films

Share

Our pick of the top books to read before they become films this year…

Whether you’re a kindle-lover or loyal to the paperback, there’s nothing better than diving into a good book that you just can’t put down. Here are our top picks for stories to read now, and watch on screen later.

A Dog’s Purpose
Think Marley & Me but this time Bailey, the dog, is reincarnated four times throughout his life. Every wondered what our dogs make of human relationships? Then this is the book for you. It’s a light-hearted story with a few tug-on-the-heart-strings moments looking at the purpose of life. Plus there’s enough ‘cute’ factor to put this at the top of our list!

Dog lover or not, this is a great novel for humans and will be out in cinemas on 14 April.

Before I Fall
17-year-old Sam Kingston is killed in a car crash and forced to live the day over and over again until she discovers the mystery of her accident. Hooked yet? This page-turner has all the elements of previous favourites (Girl on the Train, Gone Girl) and we’re ready for the Groundhog Day phenomenon to be back on the big screen.

Relive the book in cinemas this April.

My Cousin Rachel
This 1950’s English mystery is being remade into a film and we can’t wait. There’s nothing we love more than a period drama with a new twist on every page. This follows a young englishman who is seeking revenge against his cousin Rachel, but can’t help but fall under the spell of her mysterious charm.

For a new fix of ‘Downton Abbey’ drama get the book now, it will be out in cinemas this summer.

The Zookeeper’s Wife
Set in Warsaw in 1930, this book recounts the true story of zoo owners Antonia and Jan Żabińska. Author, Diane Ackerman describes this book as a true story of an unlikely heroine – so we’re sold! This book has everything we love about war-time novels – strong characters, major players in underground resistance and a little romance.

Catch it in cinemas late March and download to your kindle right now.

The Mountain Between Us
Two plane-crash-survivors seek help while severely injured – what could be more gripping? Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, that’s what. While the plot might become a bit obvious as the story progresses, we can’t wait to check this one out in cinemas. The book is told over two time periods; the graphic survival story and flashbacks of previous eras of their lives.

Don’t miss this release 20 October.
