Weekend-to-do: These DIY face masks will transfer your skin

Doing a face mask can prep your skin for a long week ahead or can be the perfect way to unwind after a stressful day.

A face mask can really make you feel like you have your whole life together, or at least allows you to pretend for those precious 15-20 minutes.

We know it is not always in the budget to run to Ulta and grab the latest Instagram-obsessed face mask — but self-care doesn’t have to break the bank. You already probably have most, if not all, of the ingredients in your kitchen to make your own face mask. Not only can you save money, but by working with your own ingredients you know everything you are putting on your skin is safe and natural.

we are sharing how to make your own face mask at home to treat common skin problems:

Probiotic turmeric honay face mask

This mask will help to reduce inflammation on the skin. We’ve talked about the miracle that is honey for your skin before. It’s natural, healing properties will help to even out skin tone and soothe texture, and will give your skin that natural, glowing boost you’re looking for. Turmeric will help to combat pigmentation while the yogurt will lift away the dull surface cells to leave the skin looking replenished.

1 teaspoon organic turmeric powder

1 teaspoon raw, organic honey

1 tablespoon organic plain (unflavored) yogurt

In a small glass bowl, combine turmeric, honey and yogurt. Stir to combine.

Apply mask to clean face. Let mask sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and a washcloth.

Moisturize as normal.

Avocado, Yogurt & honey face mask

This mask is great for hydrating dull skin. You probably already know that eating avocado can do great things for your skin, but using it on your skin as an actual treatment does wonders as well. Avocados are full of vitamins, antioxidants, and fatty acids that are excellent for moisturizing the skin. The outermost layer of skin can easily absorb the nutrients in avocados, which will give it the healthy boost it needs.

¼ - ½ of a ripe avocado

A few tablespoons of yogurt

A tablespoon (or so) of honey

Mash ripe avocado until it’s cream and blend it together with a few tablespoons of yogurt, and a tablespoon (or so) of honey.

Before you apply your face mask, you will want to have some freshly washed skin. Your everyday face wash will work just fine. Apply a thick layer of the face mask evenly across your skin avoiding your direct eye area. Leave on your skin for 15-20 minutes and allow it to harden a little. Rinse with cool or lukewarm water.

Brightening pumpkin face mask

If you’ve been wanting to try the Insta-famous Summer Fridays mask but don’t want to break the bank to get luminous skin, try making it at home with pumpkin.

Pumpkin is full of fruit enzymes that smooth and brighten skin. Pumpkin is also great for boosting collagen production, leaving skin looking more youthful.

¼ cup pumpkin puree

¼ cup oats

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 teaspoons raw honey

Using a coffee grinder, grind the oats until they turn into a powder (this will make a little over ¼ cup).

Combine pumpkin and ¼ cup of the oat powder you made (you may have some left over), and stir until well combined.

Add the ground cinnamon and mix well.

Add the honey and stir until it forms a paste.

If the mask is too thick, you may add a little more honey, or a few drops of water to thin it out, mixing thoroughly after adding.

Apply the pumpkin face mask to clean face with Leave on for 5-10 minutes. Start with a shorter duration if you have sensitive skin. Wipe off with a warm, damp washcloth. Rinse face. Apply your favorite moisturizer. If you would like to save any remaining face mask, store in the refrigerator in a sealed container and use within 24 hours.

Avocado & mango face mask

All of the ingredients in this mask are going to be super effective in hydrating, softening, and restoring skin tone and elasticity. Since this mixture is not too harsh on the skin, you can use it often without drying out your skin. This mask is great for aiding in common skin problems such as inflammation, blemish scars, and dry skin.

2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons avocado
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 mango

Cut mango into small cubes and mash in a bowl. Add the the avocado, honey and olive oil in the bowl with the mango and mix until smooth. Mix together using a fork until a smooth consistency.

Apply to face with either your hands or a brush. Leave the mask on face for 15-20 minutes and let it work its magic. Rinse your face with cool water and a face cloth.
